Summer Camp Throwbacks at Radiator
Beginning Friday, July 13, Radiator will serve up childhood nostalgia with “Camp Radiator,” a summertime menu available every Friday on the outdoor patio. Executive Chef Jonathan Dearden has created a selection of throwback camp classics perfect for an early office departure, after-work happy hour, or casual dinner. Reimagined favorites hearken back to the days of campfire-cooked meals and include:
- Carne Asada Foil Packs with flank steak, rice, sofrito, and cilantro
- Pastrami Sliders with Thousand Island dressing and coleslaw on a brioche bun
- “Beanies and Weenies” made with heirloom beans and half smokes in an aluminum mug
- Campfire Nachos made with corn tortillas, chili, cheese wiz, jalapeños, and sour cream
For more spirited camp fare, Radiator campers may opt for the Burger-Beer-Shot. For $22, the food and beverage combo includes Chef Jonathan’s signature Rad Burger (red onion marmalade, lemon-garlic aioli, arugula, and Cambozola cheese on brioche) served with truffle fries and bartender’s choice of a beer and a shot.
The Rad Burger and all of the Camp Radiator dishes are conveniently served as hand-held dishes so guests may enjoy friendly competitions of life-sized Connect Four, Jenga, and Sapo (Peruvian coin toss game). On chilly nights, games will be illuminated by Radiator’s patio fire pits. As weather permits, the Radiator team will set up a special screen in the outdoor space to show a compilation of popular camp movies under the stars.
The Camp Radiator summer menu is exclusively available on Friday evenings from 4:00 p.m. until close, starting Friday, July 13. Radiator seats patio guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations for Radiator’s dining room may be made by calling 202.742.3150 or visiting www.radiatordc.com. On Fridays, happy hour begins at 4:00 p.m., dinner is served from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and late-night bites are available from 11:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
