Georgetown Glow Features Amazing Holiday Light Installations
The popular holiday outdoor public light-art installations festival, Georgetown Glow, is back for its second year.
The event will expand from a weekend-long celebration to a 10-day exhibition from Dec. 11-20, with works lit from 6 – 10 p.m. nightly.
Georgetown Glow encourages contemplation of, and interaction with, the natural environment. The intimate, historic C&O Canal—a beautiful, meditative waterway reminiscent of Georgetown’s founding as a port town just steps from bustling M Street—will serve as the primary location for the works.
The holiday celebration also includes in-store promotions like free hot chocolate and gift wrapping, as well as sales and events from a number of Georgetown merchants. Over both weekends, visitors will enjoy nightly live outdoor musical performances at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn of Grace Church (1041 Wisconsin Avenue).
When: Friday, Dec. 11 – Sunday, Dec. 20, with light-art art installations lit nightly from 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: Throughout Georgetown’s commercial district.
Cost: Free.
