Woodley Park Welcomes Bar Civita

Bar Civita, Chef Liam Civita’s new venture, is scheduled to open Tues., April 28 in Woodley Park.

After leading the kitchen at Liberty Tavern and Lyon Hall in Clarendon, Civita left to start his own restaurant in the former space that Murphy’s Irish Pub called home for nearly 30 years, just feet from the Woodley Park Metro (next to Open City).

The restaurant plans to add brunch and lunch offerings to its menu down the road.

Flashback: Back in Jan., the enclosed patio that Civita inherited caught fire. Thankfully, the DC Fire Dept. was able to extinguish and control it quickly. It did delay Bar Civita’s opening by about two months.

As of now, there is no happy hour offered, but one is expected in the near future.

Welcome to the neighborhood! I can’t stand open city and that’s pretty much the only place we’ve been able to do ‘girl’s night’ for the past 2 years.
