University of Massachusetts, GWU Present: Ninety-One to Ninety-Five
Gallery 102 at the George Washington University is pleased to announce Ninety-One to Ninety-Five, opening on Thursday, February 21 with a public reception from 6:00- 9:00pm. The exhibition will be on view through March 15, 2013.
An artistic collaboration between the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (UMass) and The George Washington University (GWU), this exhibition features work by students in the graduate fine arts program at UMass. Later in the spring, work by graduate students at GWU will be exhibited in Amherst.
This visually dynamic and thought-provoking exhibition at GWU includes work from eleven UMass students, each piece chosen for its strong representation of the artist’s individual personality. An installation that sews together coffee filters in a derived composition is representative of the beauty that arises in the individual steps of an in-between process, such as the remaining filter and beans when making a cup of coffee, while another artwork of linen and fine fabrics demonstrates the dichotomous nature of fabrics, as fragile and stable, yet able to provide human safety and comfort in the form of a tent.
