National Gallery of Art Reopens

Following a two-year renovation, the National Gallery of Art is re-opening to the public its West Building galleries devoted to Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. The unveiling of these refurbished galleries is set for this Saturday, January 28, and a wonderful array of events are scheduled to mark this special occasion.

It is an incredible artistic treat to be reacquainted with this sumptuous collection. The paintings are displayed in dynamic new arrangements, which place the viewer at the very heart of France’s artistic life during the 19th and early 20th Centuries. Numerous paintings have been restored and returned to their original, impeccable glory — and several masterpieces have even been brought up from the archives. What a joy to discover all these “old friends” in a new light!

Be among the first to experience the magic of these renewed galleries, whose walls contain some of the greatest Impressionist works ever created. Below you will find the schedule for this weekend’s events that celebrate the reopening.
