FONZ Hosts 7th Annual Brew at the Zoo
Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) will host its 7th annual Brew at the Zoo on July 14, from 6to 9 p.m., at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C. Say “cheers” to conservation while sampling beer from more than 40 of the nation’s finest microbreweries. All proceeds from the event support animal care, conservation, science, education and sustainability programs at the National Zoo.
Along with beer sampling, food will be available for sale from local restaurants, including Eat Wonky. Also on tap, live music on the main stage featuring a performance by White Ford Bronco.
“Brew at the Zoo is one of the National Zoo’s favorite summertime events,” said Bob Lamb, executive director of FONZ. “Along with the opportunity to sample some of the best microbrews in the country, guests can mix and mingle for a great cause. This year, I’m particularly excited about the VIP event, which will celebrate the popularity of Belgian beers with a Belgian Beer Garden and specialty food items.”
General admission tickets include beer samplings, a commemorative glass and live music. Food will be available for purchase at the event. Sober driver tickets do not include a glass or beer samplings. Tickets are on sale now—$50 for FONZ members and $65 for nonmembers. Sober driver tickets are available for $20.
VIP Brew Club tickets include exclusive access to a special VIP area, full pours from a private Belgian-themed Beer Garden, food provided by four top local restaurants, special animal demonstrations by Zoo staff, games provided by Dave & Busters and a 2011 Brew at the Zoo T-shirt. VIP tickets are $85 for FONZ members and $100 for nonmembers.
