The Underground After Hours Dec. 15
Following a sold-out jazz speakeasy in October, Dupont Underground is again partnering with neighboring Dupont Circle restaurant, Firefly, to host “The Underground After Hours” on Friday, Dec. 15. The arts and cultural organization that lies beneath Washington, D.C. will become a subterranean zone of music, illuminated art, and craft cocktails, welcoming Washingtonians to dance, relax, and let loose after a long work week.
Dailey, DJ & Drinks
From 7-10 p.m., attendees have the opportunity to see Brian Dailey’s latest exhibition up close and personal while listening to DJ Amen Ra. Amen Ra has observed the styles of both East Coast and West Coast DJs and created his own sound to fill a room with positive energy. His diverse musical background will be paired for a fun Friday evening with renowned local artist Brian Dailey, known globally for his immersive digital work. Dailey famously lit up Times Square in February 2015 with his installation, “Jikai,” featuring a moth fluttering around a lightbulb.
Firefly’s Lead Bartender Brendan Ambrose will also be on site making one of his signature cocktails, the Red Devil. Inspired by the red devil cranberry sauce served at Brendan’s brother’s house for the holidays every year, the Red Devil is made with Espolon tequila, Cointreau, pressed cranberries, adobo sauce, habanero peppers, and blood orange.
What’s the Secret Password?
It’s not just the restored street-car space that will be underground for the night. Partygoers are invited to Firefly for a secret dinner special to fuel up prior to dancing. For $35, diners will receive an appetizer, an entrée, and a glass of house wine. Any guest that comes into the restaurant on Friday, December 15 with the password “UNDERGROUND” may receive the dinner deal.
“Dupont Underground After Hours” is open to the public. Guests must be 21+ to attend. Tickets are $18 on Ticketfly, and $20 at the door.
