Authentic Po-Boy Shop Coming to Dupont

Anyone who has lived in or traveled to New Orleans and enjoyed a Po-Boy sandwich knows the secret to the success of the sandwich is the bread. Cam McNair and Justin Snyder, owners of the New Orleans Po-Boy Shop, know all about it and are excited to bring a little New Orleans to DC this May. Their New Orleans style restaurant will feature classic Po-Boy sandwiches, daily specials, soups, gumbos, and salads, offering southern hospitality and slow cooking methods, adapted to meet the needs of today’s fast paced consumer.

The New Orleans Po Boy Shop is Cam and Justin’s first joint venture bringing the cuisine of Cam’s home to Justin’s neighborhood. Cam’s culinary career began at a very young age while living in New Orleans. He was able to land a job at Jonathan’s, and he credits Chef Tom Cowman with teaching him everything culinary that he knows. He has worked with Gerard Maris at Mr. B’s, Roland Hewitt at Christian’s, and also worked as a sous chef under such greats as Emeril Lagasse and Jamie Shannon at Commander’s. He then migrated to Virginia, spending time in Stanton, Charlottesville and finally Washington, D.C., holding positions as sous chef to managing partner along the way.

Some of the Po-Boy offerings include: Gulf Shrimp, Crispy Fried Calamari, House Smoked Ham and Swiss, House Roast Beef, Fried Cornmeal Crusted Oysters, just to name a few.

New Orleans Po-Boy is conveniently located at 1205 19th St. NW, near DuPont Circle, in the business district area of Washington, D.C. and is within walking distance of two major D.C. Metro Stations. The shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the possibility of private events on nights and weekends.
